Recent concerts you've been to...

Instead of just posting info about concerts that are coming up, why don't we start a thread dedicated to concerts members may have recently been to and would like to share with other members? Any suggestions...

The last Viking metal concert I went to was the mighty Amon Amarth!!! Awesome concert, full of viking power! Me and a couple of mates got to meet the band backstage because we made the effort to go to Adelaide to see them. This is close to the equivalent of someone from London going to Paris to see a band!

Johan is quite tall...he really is, and a nice guy. I also liked that he put the effort into learning a bit about Australia with referrences throughout the gig to a physically tough australian sport.

All in all, a good set with some great songs and they really powered through it, the mead horns were a nice touch.

The last concert I saw... Well besides all the local shows I attend, I think the last 'large' concert I saw was Sonata Arctica, which kicked ass. Amazing frontman, and the best live guitarist I've ever seen in my life.

The last folk/viking metal related show... Well, I haven't been to very many of those but I saw Dark Forest, Lords of The Mountain, Wolves in the Throne Room, Inquisition and Melechesh last fall. That was spectacular.

As for upcoming shows, I'll be seeing Keep fo Kalessin with Dimmu and Behemoth, and Dream Theatre with Opeth, Between the Buried and Me and Three. Oh, Not to mention Firewind with Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility and Divine Heresy.

Then Wacken and Bloodstock!

The last metal show I was at was Death/Hammerfall 98
Sound of perservance tour. Richard Cristy kicked ass live.
I'll always remeber this show. Only chance I had to see my favorite band

The last concert where I've been, or should I say festival, was Tuska Festival in Helsinki this summer. It's not a viking event, though, but I had a really good time

The last show I went too was Friday 16th March this year in Wolverhampton.

Amon Amarth & Grand Magus were phenominal. I turn 30 this year and in an effort to remain young I was on the barrier for the first time in a decade, brilliant night but my neck didn't half hurt the next day \m/
